The South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse has been providing affordable and effective chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation to residents of the greater Chicago Southland community for over thirty years.

Accessing chemical dependency treatment can be one of the most intimidating actions a person can take.  In order to make this first step towards a lifelong recovery less overwhelming, The Council's admittance process has been streamlined to allow all prospective patients and referral agencies with admittance inquiries to contact a single department.

The Central Intake staff conducts diagnostic assessments to determine the nature and extent of an individual's addictions.  When treatment needs are determined, the appropriate program placements are made.

In those instances when The Council's services are not deemed appropriate for an individual, staff refers those people to agencies that can best offer them assistance.

The Mission of Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse is to deliver a continuum of treatment and recovery support services to residents of the greater Chicago Southland area and surrounding communities.

The Council does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion or national origin.  The Council is handicap accessible and gives pregnant women and injecting drug users priority to treatment services.  The Council does not deny access to service because of a proven inability to pay.
